Why so Contentious?

A friend of my family’s was a Clerk of the Court in the Los Angeles area for 30+ years, and often she would make the following point when the subject of Family Court and or Child Support would pop up. Her position was, basically: “If people could privately settle their personal affairs in a civil and respectful manner, there would be no need for Family Court”
Now of course, this opinion makes perfect sense, but as we all know, at least as often as they do, people do not make much sense. Today, I replied to a comment(s) posted at a newspaper website by a woman in New Mexico, who seemingly proudly and loudly proclaimed: “I am owed over $50,000 in child support. I have been trying to work with NM Child Support for many years. Somehow the payment went down”. Now this gal’s comment(s) was posted in response to an article about how New Mexico’s Governor proclaimed that the State is extending a “child support crackdown Statewide“. This commenter has had, apparently, ongoing problems with the NM Child Support Collection Department in it's efforts to extract subsidy for the gal in the form of child support from her ex-husband. I replied to this woman’s comments with one statement and one question: "First, be careful stating in public that YOU are owed child support arrearages; that is SUPPOSED to go to the kids, and the Court might not like the way you stated you‘re owed child support” - And secondly, I asked: “Why didn’t Dad get the kid(s) in the first place, then you wouldn‘t have had to deal with all that frustration?” - Of course the woman doesn't need to answer the question (though I'm hoping she will) because anyone who knows the nightmare of Family Court and Child Support Collection knows that Mom gets the kids over 90% of the time when juvenile children are involved in divorce or custody cases.
Not half the time, or 75% of the time, over 90% of the time. As I always say, until society and the Family Law Industry change their posture from the current one of fiscal custody being most important, to physical custody (and truly strive for the best interest of the child) being paramount, nothing else in Family Law will change and the bias against men and fathers will remain as the status quo. More dangerous is the fact that unless changes are made in this regard, our society will keep trudging down its dusty road to oblivion as more and more Dads are removed from the homes they share with their kids via Court Order....I await a response from New Mexico……..

For about five years now, I've been expounding here - and other places - about the "$980+ million Federal Dollars California receives annually for its child support collection and case management efforts" - That figure is wrong, WAY wrong, and frankly, I'm not entirely sure how I came to have it as a benchmark; Not only am I extremely embarrassed, I humbly apologize, my bad!

A more accurate figure, based upon the statistics available (2002 - $40 million dollars in annual Federal subsidy) when AB 2240 was vetoed by then California Governor Gray Davis would have to account for inflation and other factors and I’m neither a mathematician nor economist, in fact right now, I‘m feeling like a bit of a nincompoop. Hey I fucked up, I admit it….However, the fact remains that the only Federally Funded study ever conducted on the subject of child support showed that when they are employed, men pay between 83% and 91% of all court ordered child support in the U.S. and that they pay without intervention of any kid. Couple that with today’s tremendous - and extremely rare - victory for Orange County, California resident Pedro Soto and one begins to understand the tremendous cash cow that Child Support Collection really is for Government, elected and appointed officials, and countless “agents” and representatives” in both the public and private sector.

Obviously, I have been derelict inasmuch as I have not been consistently writing here.
I could go into - and on, and on - about how much worry, sorrow, grief, agitation, anger, and remorse I, as well as most of my family (largely, my wife) have passed through in the last nineteen months trying to get my youngest daughter to see some glimpse of the proverbial, and mostly mythical, light. Her exploits are a constant, ever present source of stress, concern, and apprehension for me, and for those who love and care about her. Mine are not words of whine, mind you, but of the harsh reality that comes with dealing with a young person, the abuse of whom at the hand(s) of her biological mother and former step-father, have left deep and profound scars from which my daughter may never recover; to say it has been heartbreaking might be a start of an explanation of where I‘ve been with all of this. The Licensed Family Counselor I took my daughter to weekly for twenty-one months, without fail, upon gaining primary physical custody, remains convinced that not only was my daughter subjected to horrific psychological abuse at the nasty mouth of her mother, but that something far darker “probably” occurred at the hand(s) of her former step-father or any of several other men who rolled in and out of my ex-wife’s households; thirty-four residence changes, nine different schools for my kid between second and fourth grades. You can only imagine my rage, and all the while, I’m begging with my daughter’s mother: “look, just give me my kid. I’ll keep paying you, just let me provide some stability and sameness“ To no avail.
The damage to my daughter was/is catastrophic and she became this angry, confused, defiant, detached, and frustrated teen; my ex-wife had created a person that not only she no longer wanted around, but was incapable of helping…Thank you, Family Law Court!
Much, if not all, of this dynamic, a dynamic that I and millions of fathers like me around the free world deal with each and every day, could've/can be avoided! But does anyone besides divorced Dads ever notice that these tragedies are never, EVER mentioned, discussed, or debated in the political arena? Why? Easy answer: Too much money is changing hands between Federal, State, and Local authorities, as well as Support Collection Agencies and Institutions for change to even be considered! No amount of “Hope” or rhetoric is going to change any of this dynamic either. Spending cuts and balanced budgets are again in the National news in the U.S. with the Presidential Election (among others) on the horizon. But until Voters are cognizant of the fact that Mom’s get the kids in divorce and custody cases over 90% of the time in the U.S. when juvenile children are involved, and that in concert with that figure, men pay all court ordered child support between 83 and 91% of the time when they are employed, and that they do so without intervention of any kind, nothing will change. The Federal Subsidy of States’ Child Support Collection and Case Management must cease! These efforts are the single largest tax payer rip-off in the Country and they’ve been in place for forty years! To understand the fiscal aspects of this, all one need understand is that over half of ALL Civil Litigation in the United States involves divorce and custody! Can YOU spell “growth industry”?

So, I finally get down to the Credit Union to deposit my unemployment check, and guess what? Yup, overdrawn in my checking account! I was too late! {See previous two posts}

And the kicker is, the two relatively small checks that bounced giving me DSF fees were payable to my daughter's counselor; we receive zero support - of any kind - from my daughter's biological mother. Must make the brain-dead nincompoop very proud! To the cow in Pahrump: You truly are the nastiest of Deadbeat Moms!

I'm going to deposit my unemployment check this morning, and all I can think about is my oncologist saying: "you've got to keep your stress to an absolute minimum!" Between two adolescents in the household, and my woman, on the cusp of the proverbial "change of life" and my own private mishigas, well, I'm going to go deposit this rascal with great glee!

Well, since 29 July, 2010 I've been enjoying the bliss of being among the ranks of the unemployed and am - for the time being - reliant (grateful its there) on unemployment until I can find something good to do; I've been on unemployment only once before in my working life (for about three months in 2004) and I've been working full time since 1977. I can certainly use a vacation but so far, this has been anything but! However, as Go Daddy says: "we're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time" and that articulation has long been an unspoken mantra of mine; now its time to make it happen for me and my family and make an enjoyable income a reality! As if it weren't bad enough to have to rely on State government to help me pay the bills, I must also rely on our beloved U.S. Mail to get the much-needed check to me, and in my part of the world, that hasn't been the reality. I've just come from our apartment mailbox for about the sixth time today (I am getting in shape going up and down three flights of stairs) and our "Mail lady" has finally shown up with my check that was supposed to arrive this past Saturday; its 5:22 in the evening! Our mail chick didn't get through putting the crap in all those boxes for another fifteen minutes! Are you kidding me? Does the stress show on my ugly face? (Stupid question) The closest affiliated branch of the Credit Union I bank with is twenty-five minutes away and closes at 6:00 PM; its now 5:37 PM. I really wouldn't complain except for two reasons: I worked in a service position most of my career and would certainly do a better job than this tired old girl. Second, we never see our mail before 4:00 PM! Am I being a whiner to gripe about such "service"? Sheeeesh! Anyway, I haven't been on here for far too long and I continue to do my best to raise the consciousness of journalists to the bias, persecutions, and outright "wrong" being done to fathers and their kids in this and other countries; the fight for Dads' Rights will be with me as long as I live. Today, among other things, I read about five more "delinquent" parents (Surprise! All fathers) who were jailed in Ohio for being in arrears in child support. Ever wonder why there aren't more women on these types of lists? Well, if you're interested, drop me a line and I can tell you why. These five men are scheduled to be arraigned September 13, 2010, and if they fail to appear, arrest warrants will be issued. But wait; I thought they'd already been arrested(?) Atrocious!

OK, so no surprise here, but outrage all around: On Tuesday 10 November, 2009, after pleading guilty to lesser charges former NASA Astronut, Lisa Nowak, walks out of court a free woman. Now let us not forget, this is the married chick with three kids of her own, who confronted her illicit lover’s “other woman” in an airport parking garage after driving a 1,000 miles from Houston to Orlando with diapers - both in supply and on her body - so she could make that drive non-stop. She also had in her possession latex gloves, a brand new Buck locking blade knife, rope, a small sledge hammer, and plastic trash bags. The bitch was sentenced to a mere year on probation. Probation! What if this sleep-around whore had been a man? Or even worse, an African American man?!
I dare say, whether white, black, Latino or any other race, a male would be in the slammer, period! And likewise, no man would have been given a cushy job at a space joint, that’s for damn sure! I understand NASA took "her wings" so she can no longer fly the Space Agency aircraft, but so what? She hasn't lost any pay, except to appear in court. This case smacks of what is known in our society as “The Lace Curtain” where women are treated differently than men are, particularly when it comes to crime and punishment. Women are only held to accountability standards that the media, academia, society at large, clergy and others see as “fitting” – The media reports Nowak as a "forty-six year old mother of three". Does that mean she still has custody of her kids, jointly or otherwise? Can someone answer that question for me, please?!
Because we all know, a father under the same circumstances certainly would have "Court Approved Monitored Visitation" at the minimum in a case like this. And lastly, why hasn’t anyone in the media asked how the little Nowak children are doing? Probably not, because they are safely in the hands of their Dad who is clearly the more stable of the two parents!
Such bullshit! And those of the ignorant, wonder why the country is sliding down the shitter.....

The Holiday "Open" Season is here!

Well, with the passing of Halloween "Open Wallet Season" has begun; too bad there aren't any "decoys" I can set out to fool my soon-to-be-sixteen year old daughter into thinking she has already procured all she needs in life, at least all she wants or needs from Dear Old Wonderful Dad! Not bloody likely, I say! Hoping those who give a shit, keep up with Glenn Sacks and his web site. This week past, he pointed out how Maria Shriver (Mrs. Governator) slammed fathers in a recent published piece "A Woman's Nation Changes Everything" but the kicker is this stupid Michael Kimmel person; zero in on him people, I intend to, with a vengance!

Anyway, haven't been on in a while and I am now a grandpa to boot, a lovely little boy he is too, have a look....Intending to write more often. Go Dads!

Personally, I feel a great sense of loss with the untimely passing of Michael Jackson.

He brought me, and those I love, both present and loves lost, great enjoyment and fun when we dance to his music; I'll miss you Mike. For me, Michael's death is not unlike losing John Lennon: Two guys who could truly change the world....Often, too much pressure, expectation, and misplaced hope is put upon our artists, those we count on for pleasure whether it be visual, auditory, or by feeling within our senses; Michael Jackson did not, nor did he want, to be looked to for political or moral guidance, he was an artist. Again, I'll miss his art....Rest easy Mike, and the best to your inner circle, may they find peace in knowing how much joy you brought to those of us who appreciated your art and who never had the opportunity to spend time with you......

I have decided that - for the time being at least - I'm going to try and lessen and or eliminate the usage of profanity in my entries here. Please understand, that I came to this decision, not because my outrage and or anger about the issues that piss me off has lessened any; to the contrary. I've made this decision so that in the unlikely event that an elected, appointed, or employed official reads my stuff, it might be taken more seriously. Not that my use of profanity isn't serious mind you, but I'm just afraid that my use of profanity could perpetuate the selfishness and cowardice behind the "status quo" in the Family Law and Child Support Collection Industries. Anyway, I feel my strong and aggressive point of view - and first hand experience - validates my word choice. But, someone from those walks of life could chicken out and not read my entries in their entirety simply because I curse. So, from now on, I'll do my level best to insert "clean" blog entries.

Well, so much for a Divorced Dad “victory” in Brazil for David Goldman; what a bucket of horse piss laced shit! Some fuck-face Brazilian Judge has blocked the American from taking his son home to the States. In the event you’re ignorant of the case, Goldman and his ex-wife’s (she was a Brazilian native) marriage went to the shit-can in 2004, when she snuck off to Brazil and divorced Holmes from down there. So, not long after the Family Law Industry in Brazil fucked Dave, the Nazi Family Law Comrades here in the States porked him too. As it was, the short sighted selfish bitch took a “two week vacation” to her native Brazil in 04 with their then four year old son in tow - Surprise! She and the kid never returned; Goldman has been in a longer battle over that whole bullshit-scenario prior. Anyway, since the ex-fuck died, like a year ago due to complications in birthing another kid by some Brazilian attorney asshole - who by the way, has been raising the kid, so the news reports say - (wonder if this Brazilian fuck lawyer has been getting child support from Goldman?) Ooooooo, that’d be the straw that breaks this divorced Dad’s fucking back! So, this brings to of late, Goldman saying like “Hey, the sneaking, conniving bitch is dead, gimme back my kid” - No brainer! Those of us who know how this shit works, are not, in the very least, surprised by the fact that the biological father hasn‘t yet had his kid returned. Can you say “Elian“? Those of us in the know, again, are not surprised, pissed like a motherfucker, but not surprised…..
But, as I opined yesterday, let us hope that “diplomacy” once again becomes a factor: I hope Mrs. Clinton gets on this again. If so, we should ALL write and call to her exclaiming the nightmare that are the Family Law and Child Support Collection Industries right here in the U.S.A.! - Please stay tuned!

Not all of the recent news from Brazil (the tragic loss of the Air France Rio-to-Paris crash into the Atlantic Ocean) has been bad. There is also the report about the huge victory a divorced Dad from New Jersey scored in that South American country; getting his eight year old son back after a four year battle....Surprise, surprise, the mother took the kid to Brazil following divorce and
never returned; she died fairly recently. Let her rot!
The huge point to be made, not lost, and kept in the limelight as long as possible in my opinion, is the fact that elected U.S. Officials, up to and including Mrs. Clinton and President Obama directly addressed the situation with varying Brazilian authorities when they met with those officials. That could be big ladies and gentlemen! Big! Write to those people. Tell them about the outrageous occurrences right here in the States! Men paying child
support for kids DNA evidence has proven they didn't father! Mothers gaining primary physical custody of minor children over 90% of the time in divorces! The atrocious fact that divorce and custody comprise over half of all civil litigation in this country! No wonder the states are broke and the economy is in the shitter: we're paying all those mediators, counsellors, psychologists, child welfare people, judges attorneys and legislators to fuck as all right down the shit pipe. Personally, I'm sick of it!! I'm telling you folks, the time has come to give up on the Equal Parenting tactic and hit em where they (the tax payers) will listen; in the pocket book. Everyone with a clue knows that the States get monstrous amounts of Federal money each year for their case management and child support collection efforts. Funds that never make their way into the lives of children of divorce or impoverished kids! No! Those Federal Funds finance the salaries, medical benefits, paid vacation time, and pensions of those employed by the divorce and child support regimes. Those are Form 1040 funds people, your tax dollars, those "unaffected" by divorce and child support; its draining us all and it has got to stop! By far a larger threat to society as we know it than race or poverty combined! Taking Dads from their kids' homes via court order for thirty+ years has created a populace of thieves, teenagers who are pregnant all the time, and violent pieces of shit, with these "Family Law Officials", many elected, having a vested interest in creating as many of these little fuckers as possible, and getting Dad out of the way is the cornerstone of the divorce industry. Enough!

Over the last two weeks, it's rained here in Los Angeles more than I can remember since about 1982. The dead grass from my mothers back yard was floating on a river of lluvia down the driveway at about 8:00 this morning, and there must have been at least four inches of water on the ground all way round the old homestead; maybe the drought is finally easing. Anyway, I've now had primary physical custody of my fifteen year old daughter since June of 08 and the challenges continue; while I won't go so far as to say they're "mounting" they are at the minimum, ever present. Geeezzzuuusss!

Through the graciousness of one of the very kind people in my life, I was able to attend comedian Lewis Blacks' show here on Valentines Day night; he was as outrageous and funny in person as he comes across on television, I love the guy. The show was at the Wilshire Theater in Beverly Hills. If you ever have occasion to attend an event there, go; the place is incredible. Be warned however, cocktails are not cheap. Stay with me if you will, but it has been nineteen months since I came back to the old house I grew up in, due to circumstances beyond my control (Third divorce, among other shit) to live with my eighty-seven year old mother, and that too is not without trying challenges. Frankly, she is about sick of me and my kid, my Dad, may he rest, died in 1995. And here, all this time, I thought I'd gotten my hard headedness from my Dad!!

So, 2008 is the first year since 1991, that I get to claim any of my children on my income tax - Hallelujah!! And, wouldn't you know it; the fucked up state of California is so fucked up, they're holding onto my fucking state refund. Just my luck! Oh well, and so it goes....Contemplate this recent quote by Connecticut Senator Edward Myer from an article in The Hartford Courant dated 1/30/2009: "the child welfare agency is one of the largest in state government. DCF has about 3,500 employees and an annual budget of about $900 million." and the key word here is "annual" and again, none of that $900 million dollars goes to children of divorce or families being "served" by that agency.

Well, I've been off of here for quite some time obviously, but it's not as though I haven't thought about new entries, or opined, mused about, or reflected on things with friends and or family. What happened is, that I gained Primary Physical custody of youngest daughter on 7 June, 2008 and I have been otherwise engaged ever since. In the photo, she's the one on the left, the other two gals are my older daughters. My youngest had been in a situation that I'll limit my description here as "bizarre": Her mother has changed residences no fewer than thirty-four times since 1999 and my daughter had been in nine different schools between second and ninth grade. She had failed eighth grade and only through her own effort and fortitude was she able to move on up to age appropriate ninth grade mid-year last year. I am currently embroiled in a battle with the local school district (the most local high school is about 50% Latino - 50% African-American) in applying for an Intra-District permit to allow my kid to go to a high school "out-of-district". The school I want her to attend is a good four way split 25% Asian, White, Latino, and African-American, not to mention, my nephew is The Dean there and will be in a position to help when the inevitable occurs. Example: I asked her this weekend what she knew about the Civil War: She, literally, had no concept and "didn't want to talk about it" - I'd say I have my work cut out for me. The photo was taken on Father's Day of this year and was the first time since 1998 that I was able to spend it with all three of my girls at the same time, and the first time since 2003 that I spent it with any of them. It was pretty special......More to come later, stay tuned!

I am so happy the Texas Supreme Court has ordered that Gestapo CPS to return the children to the FLDS parents; what an outrage! Not surprising outrage, but outrage nevertheless. In the news yesterday, some of the Texas CPS (Child Protective Services) people were quoted as saying that to return the kids to their parent's could cause them to leave the area "of jurisdiction"

Well, I can tell ya, if I'd been subjected to that bullshit raid, I'd be outta there as soon as I could get my kid back, too! What do those SS Agents expect? Those Mormon people to embrace and thank them for causing emotional stress that they may never recover from? Idiots! It all comes down to the fact that the tax payers and the Fed is figuring out that the whole child support collection machine is an unnecessary rip-off! The Federal Funding that pays for two thirds of child support collection is finally being scrutinized; there are going to finally be layoffs in the Child Support Collection Industry. Received signed change in custody documents yesterday; onward! Watch out for Obama people....According to the brilliant scholar, Thomas Sowell, Obama is way too far left: He has never sponsored any bipartisan legislation.

While I realize I haven't many "fans" who have visited this stinking blog of mine on a regular basis, or in numbers that would rival a Zeppelin concert, there have been some who've come and gone, had a look, and even left an occasional comment.
In one of my more dim and distant entries, I spoke about my outrage in respect to the double standard treatment at the hands of the court regarding double murderess, Holly Ashcraft.

Recall, Ms. Ashcraft is the former USC co-ed who screwed a dude, got knocked up, had the baby, then tossed the baby in a trash dumpster where it died. Some time later, fucked another guy (or maybe the same cocksman) did the same thing: pregnant, have baby, dump newborn in trash dumpster. Well this asshole-shit little chick got off nearly totally free -no accountability; I hope the judge in the case, Judge Kathleen Kennedy, rots! First of all, I ask: what if a man had tossed a baby into a trash dumpster and been caught, what would he be charged with? This little Ashcraft strumpet pleaded no contest to child endangerment after the DA, to his credit, tried four times to pin murder charges on her ass.

I don't know how anyone associated with this cunt's release, including her rich snobassed parents, could cast their eyes on this whore, much less allow her to be held nearly completely unaccountable for her crimes! Shameful, but guess what, it gets better! All this little harlot has to do for taking the life of her own children, and she'll be sentenced on June 27, 2008 is to, get this: "time already served — about 30 days of jail time and about 695 days of electronic monitoring.

She also will be placed on five years of probation" By comparison, this bitch makes abortion clinics look fetus friendly!! I am, simply, dumbfounded! What if the guy who fathered the two babies wanted to have a relationship with those children? What if those men who fucked the bitch, died before ever having another child? I don't know, just seems, in the first place, so selfish of the little chick, then for the court to basically turn her loose is well, just not right! Am I wrong? - ProFuckingBation!!! Peace....

Not Happy - AT ALL!

Having a very tough time over the last few days.

My youngest daughter is finally supposed to be released from the hell that is her mother's household and come with me to live. The cruelty this woman is capable of never, ever ceases to cause me to be taken back; she has had the change in custody documents in her possession for two weeks now, and they remain unsigned. By the way, this was all her idea. This cow is horrifically mean to my daughter, the toxic, vile, incredibly nasty things that come out of her mouth directed at my child - Argh!....I think it was Chris Rock who said: "I don't condone what OJ did, but I understand" - If people knew what this tramp has put me and my daughter through they would want to throw her off a bridge themselves! All I can try and do is carry on, hold on, and have faith in something that my Clay will survive, get out of that pit, and into some semblance of sanity....My God!

I heard Nader speak recently, he is right: We need to stop settling for "least worst" people being elected.....

During our Mother's Day celebration yesterday, my sister-in-law's sister
yelled at me during a "political discussion". Actually, at one point, she simply went nasty on me. I'd brought up the fact that personally, I was tired of settling for "least worst" candidates in elections, and that I intend to vote for Ralph Nader -Making that proclamation in the presence of this person, as it turned out, was a mistake on my part! After uttering this intent of mine, a the verbal assault on my person was unleashed, a salvo the likes of which I have not been the target of in quite some time; prior to that it had been a simple debate.
The source of the intensity contained in the hollering I was subjected to, evidently came from the fact that this woman voted for Nader in past elections. It appears to me that this woman has come to the conclusion, a conclusion that Mr Nader himself has very recently warned about, that by voting for Nader votes are taken away from a more viable, "electable" candidate and hence the "opposition" wins; bullshit!
It is that very attitude that has left American voters with but two parties in elections and our democracy the plaything of corporations. The tangible and real impossibility of getting anyone outside the Democratic/GOP party regimes onto the ballot for crissake is enough to sound the alarm nobody is hearing! I mean geezzzuuussss, there are people from the Lumber Industry in high positions at the Department of the Interior and people from the Pharmaceutical Companies in high ranking positions within the Food & Drug Administration; least worst?

I'm done with that crap!
This gal in her tirade went on to scream that I "probably voted for Bush last time anyway, didn't you?" Well, I'm not going to lie and say I didn't, but being employed in the defense industry for as long as I had been, I did vote republican for that reason; hey Bush hoodwinked me too.
Anyway, other than that, a pleasant time was had by all......

By the way, did I mention that I love beer!

My friends, and all of their teammates, in Lansing, Michigan are preparing for another 758 miles of kick ass bicycle riding; the second Equal Parenting Bike Trek from Michigan to D.C. to promote equal parenting between fit parents following divorce is at hand! You rock, Pedersens'!!

So much, and yet at the same time, so little going on....A big transistion awaits me in the next few months, as it turns out, my youngest may be coming live with my Mom & me...So many plans yet to be laid down....I may finally find another resting place, at least professionally....That too, remains to be seen....I simply want to do music and relax, yet relaxation always eludes me, mostly, my own fault, of course....Must get back on the bicycle as soon as possible; no more excuses.....For now, rest....I am weary, and I miss she on the mesas and mountains;

UCLA Freshman Rebound Record - Really!

UCLA has a pretty bad ass 6'10" freshman basketball player this year in Kevin Love, and he's just set records for rebounds collected in a game by a freshman at the university; really?....He's tough, poised, and is already in the running for national player of the year, according to an article I read on the net just this afternoon. But please, take a look at the picture of the guy in the UCLA uniform on the right. When this shot was taken, he was a 7'2" sophomore with an 70" sleeve, and well, check the air under his shoes; when Kareem was at UCLA freshman were, per NCAA rules, ineligible for varsity play. You want boards?
Anyway, it always bugs me that Kareem and The Big Dipper don't get the respect and acknowledgement they earned and deserve....Air Jordan would have had his ass handed to him; bring that shit down the paint Mike.....Peace.

Heath Ledger died today, heartfelt to his family. A really, really good actor "on his way" (Monster's Ball) in my opinion -

The strangeness continues; agreed, he's just an actor: Young, kick-ass guy, fades into the sunset like some kinda broke-back cowboy for no perceivable reason....By contrast, many of the rockers who've provided me great pleasure, and who certainly I thought coulda, woulda, should've been dead by now, are still with us; read: Jagger, Richard, Steven Tyler, Ozzie, and on and on....There is no "Go Figure" in equations such as these I suppose. For me, my limited-exposure to and perception of surrealism, seems to be much too embedded in the minuscule piece of reality I try to cling to.

Seems = seams in the strange fabric of "society" today; let's stop killing each other, then maybe I won't feel so strange.......I don't know, however, I suppose I need some cheese with my whine....Simply me, simple in my simplicity - Don't know of course, just the pattern of American life has been split by tailors and seamstresses from elsewhere and that the pursuit of balance and calm continue to be elusive. The simple little goals are sooo hard to attain; time to go back to some form of stage performance, and the bicycle...Exercise=escape: Ah, Relief!

It seems that I may have scored a small victory in Court yesterday. For tonight at least, it could be that I beat odds, even if only very slightly, that divorced Dads face in this country by the hour; the Court lowered my child support by a hundred and eight bucks per month. But, despite the contest, I know my daughter continues to suffer, and no matter what I do, for me, my love remains cradled in frustration, nervousness, and the hum of miles and years of a struggle I wanted no part of in the first place, and weighs heavily upon my spirit; I'm tired...

For this Court appearance, I thought I'd employed, under my skin, my toughest breastplate. As it turns out, my best attempts at toughness were met with near paralysis; I was frightened beyond description when my time came to go through the swinging gate, and speak to the Judge; what a fucked feeling....People shouldn't have to be exposed to such scrutiny, especially those who really love in their souls like I do. Family Court today is not the forum Thomas Jefferson and the others envisioned when they set the shit up....Stress, could be my ultimate undoing.......Peace

Got cha! My first cold symptoms since getting off chemo, May, 2005; sneezing like hell, runny nose, agh! My doctor told me I probably wouldn't get sick for quite a while after the chemotherapy treatment concluded, and he was right...New Years eve tomorrow, Oh-Eight is here! Big family court hearing for me on 1/7/08 and I'm feeling a little antsy about it; anyone who knows, understands The Family Law Industry is not for Dad's, but I have no choice this time. The preparation for hearing has been close to all consuming of my time for the past four weeks, and I finished my document gathering just today. I think I'm as prepared as I'm going to get; wish me luck, and I'll have a full report next week!

Hoping the best for a positive New Year and hoping those I know and care about have a better year than last. Don't know about you, but it's been kinda rough round heeya!

Great, and convivial, time was had by just about all who attended Christmas at my Mom's house. Which, by the way, and if it matters, is where I reside too...My older daughters had a great time and received some very nice things from Santy Claus and their family....I've been sorta wrapped with the entire Tiger-kills-zoo-patron thing; as I say from time to time "I can think of a few ways to go, but that ain't one of em" Spooky.....

As Oh-Eight approaches, gotta wonder what the hell is going to happen, as is known, Oh-Seven sucked....I must confess, I'm ready for that snap on Pennsylvania Avenue to vacate the premises; fuck! Glowing economy? Unemployment low? Bullshit!

Now I admittedly, converse with pretty small circles of folks, but I don't know anybody who is enjoying the proverbial "day at the beach" in their lives right now.....Oh, enough Pablo, sheessh!

Being limited by a strenuous bunch of BS dumped on me at the first of November, my Merry Blissmiss plans have been strained, as my body and soul continue to be, by crap much of which is out of my control.....I'm litterally quite tired and, grow weary of always having something or someone, not of my doing or desire, impeding what had been a clear drive for simple smoothness in my life; simple smoothness.....Had to get something for my youngest today, and so I did, venturing "out amongst em"....In L.A. I believe I've finally learned: Shop early. Which is what I'd intended to do until the bomb bopped me in November...Anyway, trying not to whine, but shit "what'd I do?"!

Sheesh, Christmas is almost here! May Oden help me, I'm just not sure what to think about that....I don't like the fact that much of what my uncles, aunts, and parents said, back when I was a kid, has turned out to be so fucking accurate: "Just wait till you're my age" or "You'll see, smart-ass, someday you'll wish you were a kid again, just wait" - And the classic in my family: "Slow down, enjoy. Something I hadn't realized until very recently, is the fact that two-time murderess Holly Ashcraft, pictured with her toe-rag, scum sucking lawyer Mark Geragos, has been out on bail for two years. And, in early November, 2007, had her bail reduced from $200,000 to $50,000 - She has had to wear an electronic monitoring device, but where is she? At home in Montana? This is such repugnant bullshit, I don't believe there is a stomach medicine thick enough to prevent me from throwing up! What is the judge thinking?!

This idiot has killed two babies, two, has been charged three times with murder - and then had the charges dismissed for lack of evidence -- in connection with the death of her most recent newborn. Lack of evidence? What!?

Now what if the father had taken the baby and thrown it in the dumpster, what would he be charged with? I just don't know people......I simply do not know.......Peace

Evidently, a certain DA in another state thinks I'm guilty of child support bullshit too; taking everything my imbecilic ex-wife has told them as the truth; my turn, AGAIN, in the barrel folks. Difference is, I have records! Of course, it will be of no consequence that my ex-wife has lied blatantly, again, through her stinking teeth....Enough! THIS JUST IN: The state of Massachusetts has passed a law: Parents cannot spank their own kids! Fuck Me!!

I hope everyone who has ANY kind of family law/child support collection industry issue is going to vote for Rudy Giuliani; he's the only one of the lot, Repub. or Demo. who's had his ass kicked by the family law regime; and regardless, he's the only one of all of them who has a clue. I do like what Huckabee wants to do with the IRS - GET RID OF IT!! I don't give a damn about Rudy's other policy positions, I want him to get in there and kick some family law ass! Be sure and visit Glenn Sacks site people, big news in the works on the Feds finally cutting some fucked-up funding to the stinking state child support collection payrolls; GOOD!! It's about time!!

Also, keep an eye on the Astronut, Lisa Nowak, case, I hope she doesn't get away with it, but I'm smelling a rat. And also notice, that there has been NOTHING said in the media about Nowak's kids! If she were a man, they'd be all over the fact that "dad" is a terrible person, bad parent, and, and, and just look at what that animal tried to do; he tried kill his ex-wife's-boyfriend's-friend's new lover or some shit; rest assured though, they'd find a way to demonize the man in that scenario.....Peace

OK folks, indulge me while I share with you the pictures of pig criminals getting away with VERY serious crimes! Crimes and penalty American men would not get away with; read on, please.

In this post I am going to present three examples of criminal American females in the news. I will list them in the order of their cases based upon age, oldest case being first. #1 is the two-time murderer Holly Ashcraft; the Blondie strumpet directly above. She is the suspended USC student who killed two babies that she birthed. She is to be arraigned on Manslaughter charges on September 14, 2007 as opposed to murder charges. Basically, the little rich bitch strumpet got knocked up, carried the babies to term then killed them by abandonment after she gave birth. -What would a man have been charged with if he were to toss a newborn baby into a trash dumpster?

The, we have Lisa Nowak, the lunatic former astronut; pictured above with her hand placed on her testicularly bruised chin. She has been charged with Attempted Kidnapping. The evidence found in her vehicle the night she attacked the other female NASA gal clearly shows she intended to kill her then, cut her up, bag her and get rid of her body. - Would a man have been charged with the lesser Attempted Kidnapping charge had a man perpetrated the same acts under the same circumstances? Not to mention, Nowak is working and making big bucks. I sure would like to know what her current visitation schedule is with her three children!

And lastly for today, there is baby-whale heroine and fifty-four year old sow, Jean Panzo-Montalbano; shown shitting her red Moo-Moo in court just before she was released on her own recognisance. She, who pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with a special-education student multiple times and was sentenced to "House Arrest and Community Service". Wonder if they'll allow her to serve her Community Service at a day care facility? - And if a man had been charged with, and pleaded guilty to, having "unlawful sex with a special-education student" where would he be today?

It's all bullshit and things better change!

College Footbal, BIKE Trek and other Musings

The BIKE Trek guys got underway this morning - 700 miles from Lansing MI. to D.C. for the EQUAL Parenting Rally to be held in our Nation's Capitol on August 18, 2007 http://www.cycling4children.com/.....Among other things, Casey Stoner is running away with the Moto GP series so far with 7 wins in 11 races with just 7 to go; the next GP is in Brno on 8/19....

I am excited about UCLA football this season and am going to do all I can to attend the Notre Dame game in the Rose Bowl on 10/6/07; Irish eye's will be teary when the Bruins are finished with their team!....First time Notre Dame has played in the Rose Bowl since 1925....Huge game.....Anyway, am going to do my best to be more consistent here, and BTW, the dedication of the Helen Lundeberg "Transportation Mural" is taking place today. Been busy, trying to get the Achilles healed, get it? Ha! Anyway, more BS goes on. In Connecticut, their supreme court ruled that some kind of crapola child support law is now retroactive to 2004. Must have missed out on "their cut" of Dad's paycheck the first time around; pieces of Vulture guano they are....I wrote the following to the reporter:

First of all, Richard Blumenthal is either a blatant liar or being lead astray by his own administration. The state of Connecticut receives millions of Federal dollars each year, as does every state in the union, for it's child support collection efforts; CA. alone receives over $50 million dollars for this "purpose". These Federal funds DO NOT find there way into the lives of children of divorce or impoverished kids; these funds finance payroll, medical benefits, and paid vacation time for the employees of the Family Law and Child Support Collection Industries. Those Federal Funds are taxpayer supported. FACT: The ONLY definitive study ever conducted on child support showed that men pay (Women are over 90% of the time the primary custodial parent in U.S. divorce cases) between 83% and 90% of all court ordered child support. When these figures became apparent Wayne Stanton, then head of the Child Support Collection Admin. in D.C. had the study cancelled. In fact, it took a formal Federal Freedom of Information Act submission simply to retrieve that study's data. Not incidentally, over half of ALL civil litigation in the U.S. involves divorce and child custody. "Best Interest of the Child"? I continue to be nearly completely overwhelmed by crap in the news demonstarting the blatant bias men face in our society; this is America, isn't it? I have placed a quote from an article dated today in Virginia here to demonstrate my meaning: "According to the police report, the newborn has a fractured arm and skull, brain swelling, retinal hemorrhaging and bite marks. Mauldin police arrested the infant's mother, Vallon Silease Sparrow. She is charged with felony child abuse and is being held without bond in the Greenville County Detention Center"

Now, notice the "charge": Felony Child Abuse? Am I the only person who finds this outrageously weak in regard to charges? What if a man perpetrated the same crime in the same manner? He'd be charged with attempted murder, minimum; period! By the way, pictured is murderer Ms. Yates from Texas, not to be confused with murderer Ms. Sparrow from Virginia mentioned above.

On June 14, 2007 another woman, Edith Delgado, of Redwood City, CA. was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of vehicular manslaughter for causing a freeway crash that killed three people; Delgado was driving a car that sideswiped a sport utility vehicle.

I don't know what is happening but why isn't the public crying out over this kind of stuff? It is happening day in and day out! All one need do is search the net in the news, it's everywhere; American women killing innocent people and murdering their own kids!

My middle daughter graduated from high school this past Friday; it was so good to be able to share with her. I was unable to attend my oldest daughter's ceremony. And while this didn't make up for that, it was gratifying to be with them both; my oldest sat with me, bless her heart, while their mom and her family sat a few rows away; I'd have been by myself had my big girl not sat with me.

I had the hell scared out of me today, as I witnessed a gasoline tanker truck taken from the driver at gun point by two armed men in a very violent manner! Understand that movies, commercials, and TV spots are constantly being filmed in this area so I didn't pay much attention initially as it looked too "staged" to be the "real thing". But as I watched, hoping to catch a glimpse of DiCaprio or Matt Damon, it became clear that the truck driver was terrified and that something terrible was taking place! I got the license plate number of the car who dropped the gunmen off as he was stuck in traffic momentarily and it just so happened I was the only witness in the line of site of all that went down....Especially scary for me, as I frequent this stretch of boulevard daily. When is this going to end? I happened to be on my way to the supermarket to purchase inflated price Porterhouse when I saw all of this crap. Then, while remaining in a bit of shock, I'm nearly accosted by the check-out clerk at Ralph's because I was taking too long in the self check-out line; I left the steak on the check out table, left, and went to Arby's for lunch. I won't be going anywhere until Monday!

Seems my concerns about water being more critical to our society than oil are being heard; and others share my deep worry that we'll dry up and blow away long before we can't drive our stupid vehicles for lack of gasoline. Listening to npr today about the sale of Chrysler, the most significant detail for me was the whining of the Union reps and sale isn't even close to completion. If the stinking unions hadn't priced our products out of the market in the first place, this would have never happened. I mean, come on, anyone who knows anything about cars knows the crap Detroit puts out, and has for decades, is far below what the Japanese manufacturers put out for the money. Example: I have a close friend who is a staunch American Patriot, as am I. He raced professional moto-cross for a time, I remember him saying that if he could purchase an American motorcycle that could compete with Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki he'd have been riding one. And all one need do is slam the door of a Detroit car and that of a Japanese car and, well, you get my meaning.....Water folks, the water is going to be the commodity for which the killing of fellow human beings will escalate to viciousness not seen in thousands of years......Conserve and desalinate I believe is the answer...

I have $1.80 to my name right now, and am overdrawn by $34.00 with my stinking bank. That crap added to the fact that the world is getting crazier by the minute and I just don't know how much more I can take or how long I can go on! Our water shortage isn't near as grave as it is in China right now! Please read on...... News from the net tells me that 190,000 people in China, today, May 14, 2007, are facing water shortages as a mega drought continues to decimate areas of Hubei province. More than 3 million mu (200,000 hectares) of farmland have been affected by the drought, which has also left 93,000 livestock short of drinking water, according to the Hubei provincial flood and drought control authorities. The local government has dispatched about 400,000 people and tens of thousands of pieces of irrigation equipment to combat the disaster which has afflicted 22 counties and cities of the province. Precipitation is down 30 to 60 percent of normal in most parts of Hubei province just since April; people are going to die. In Shiyan 50 streams and 1,520 ponds have dried up, and 2,300 water cellars and 16 small reservoirs are nearly dry. Wheat output is expect to be reduced by 8.75 million kg this year............You've heard me from the beginning my friends; tis not lack of oil shall be the death of mankind, but alas, not a sweet drink of water to thine lips will kill ye?!

Earlier today, the governor and legislative leaders agreed to launch a pre-emptive strike on summer gang and gun violence across the state but these measures I don't think include consideration of the fact that everyone, including gang members and their "families" are going to have less and less water as we proceed through the hottest months. It could be, according to a probation officer interviewed on the news, a riot that "will make the Rodney King riot look like a day at the beach" Can't wait for that one! Seems impossible to make a purchase at this point of any tools, firearms, ammunition, or resources that would assist a pacifist in protecting himself in a frenzied anarchic situation. I hope the Mexicans have enough guns and people to keep my street in balance until order can be restored, whenever that may be. The hoodlums have been stockpiling guns and ammo for years; this is getting scarier by the second.

I believe I have enough gas in my car to get to a "safer" area, but the water concern is a huge factor. I am not sure what I'll do if the water supply gets shut down across the basin.....We shall see.

As things are already heating up (History tells us that So Cal's fire season doesn't usually start until June) on the ground here in the L.A. Basin, and significant fires have already commenced, I find myself growing increasingly nervous and concerned about the possibility of rioting due to lack of water as opposed to lack of gasoline or other fossil fuels. I reside very near the point at which Reginald Denny was beaten nearly to death during the Los Angeles riots of 1992. I have only been able to stockpile about 200 gallons of water thus far excluding the "usual" emergency sources of water: water heater, run-tap-into-plugged-bathtub/sinks-until-full, toilet tanks; by the way, I removed the bricks from my toilet tanks weeks ago so that they would fill to capacity when the need arises. The apartment right across the street from me has been under police department surveillance for quite a long while, and when the "shit goes down" that particular dwelling will be my primary focus; initially at least.

It has come to my attention that there are several African-American gang members residing in that dwelling. Couple that with the fact that Mexicans (Several Mexican families reside next door to me in a single family house) and lately Latin Americans have been pushing the black people out of their traditional neighborhoods for years and you have the makings of a firefight. A firefight I want no part of, but may be drawn into merely by my location; I want trouble with neither. I have long been of the opinion (based upon my own observations and in listening to law enforcement accounts) that a person who commits crime under the cover of darkness or chaos "lies in wait" for situations to present themselves such as the looting in Los Angeles during the 1992 riots or the lawlessness of post hurricane Louisiana .

These "people" come out of the woodwork when calamity takes over a neighborhood and I intend to protect myself. In my research, I have learned that the gangster's weapon of choice (9MM pistol or AK-47 Assault Rifle) is no match for a 12 Gauge; I wonder if one can be purchased at this point? It's a shame to have to maintain this mindset, but I fear the alternative could be far worse.

I've just turned off our local news broadcast and the major coverage at this hour is a big brush fire burning on Catalina Island; this fire is a serious threat to the historic town of Avalon on the island and now people are being ordered off the island. The big part of the island fire story on the news throughout the afternoon had focused on the fact that deployment of these giant hovercraft to get "resources" to Catalina from Camp Pendelton Marine base was taking far more time than it should have.

Why Los Angeles County doesn't/didn't have enough "resources" already deployed there should be the underlying current for all of us during a crisis: Government Services may not be able to reach us for quite sometime if at all! The lack of forecasting and planning on our "officials" parts certainly does not instill confidence in this voter! What else aren't they planning for? I remember the huge fire storms of several years ago that wiped out much of Malibu and I recall the news helicopter flying over the next morning showing film of the devastation; there was one house standing untouched amidst all the burned out houses and foundations were all that was left of most.

The news crew interviewed the guy whose house survived and had been photographed from the air. He had a gas powered pressure washer and a full swimming pool. He yanked out his power washer, dropped the intake into his pool, put his nozzle on "stream", kept the flames off of his property, and saved his house himself; I'll never forget that interview. The guy was cool and prepared! I'm telling you folks, the fuel crunch is just a wake-up call for the real crisis that is looming if we don't all prepare and conserve: World Without Water scares this taxpayer far more than a World Without Oil does....Until next time....Peace

Just when I think I've heard it all in regard to the horrific treatment of men at the hands of the Family Law/Child Support Collection Industries, I'm further blown away! The link in this post http://www.kyw1060.com/pages/439421.php?contentType=4&contentId=485887 is to a story about a man in PA. who donated sperm to a lesbian couple so that they could conceive a kid, and is now being held liable for child support despite that fact that he is now DECEASED! Do you think the donor had any assets? Duh!! Nothing is too low for the snakes in the Family Law/Child Support Collection Industries to stoop to when it comes to a man's money or assets, nothing!

The weather has cooled here in L.A. which is making the fire fighters quite happy, not to mention their jobs easier but the horrific draught continues. I remember the first time I read about Austrailia's desalination plants and thought that we should have desalination here in California; I was in elementary school some forty years ago. To reineforce my position, today I offer a few pieces from Steven Chu, director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the 1997 winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics; this guy knows what he's talking about; the rivers that remain today will dry up!

Mr. Chu's research shows that California's Sierra Nevada Mountains, the tallest in the state and water supply for millions, could lose nearly all of it's snowpack by the end of the century; let's get goin on the desalination plants Arnold! Mr. Chu goes on to state that Greenhouse gases are the culprit; anyone surprised?

Come on people, the wrting is on the wall. Mr. Chu said that if he were "Emperor of the World" he would "put the pedal down" in respect to energy conservation and carbon emissions. He also pointed out that the Sierra Nevada snowpack is at it's lowest level in 20 years. But, I personally recall it has been very low before. Let's get those desalination plants going and stop driving so often. I believe it was Sir Artur C. Clarke who said that if the Los Angeles basin shut down all vehichular traffic for just one day, we would have smog free air for two years! That's it! 4th of July, 2008! Seems a job is finally going to come to fruition for me; HOORAY! And of course, I am pleased about that. "My" ARCO Station's Regular is @ $3.35 per gallon now further encouraging me to drive longer, further, and faster; NOT! Be that as it may, my new place of employment (Awaiting background check clearance) is very close-by and located as near perfectly as one could hope for in the South Bay. Big fire here in the basin as most of you probably know in the Griffith Park area; you know it's serious when they put the water dropping helicopters in the air at night. For a while, the fire was threatening the Griffith Park Observatory which has just recently been reopened following a $93 million, four-year makeover of the art deco landmark! It was close there for a while evidently. The ankle continues to be a problem. Must go recline with an ice bag on my ankle now........Until next time, Peace........

For tomorrow's Moto GP of China, Valentino Rossi is once more on pole shattering the track record by over half a second; huge for these guys.......I'm guessing that if all fossil fuel products as we currently know them were suddenly unavailable to the general public, among other things, the dynamic and mindset of the employer/employee - workplace/labor force would change virtually over night. From the beginning of the Industrial Age (in America at least) for the most part workers have moved themselves and their families to the proximity of the workplace. I believe that if fossil fuel ran out today, that dynamic would shift and to one degree or another the workplace, particularly new businesses, could be forced to come to the worker. I have also always been a firm believer in "the positive" and I have faith in mankind overcoming the obstacles that we now face.

One answer could be the utilization and installation of Pelle R. Jensen's RUF System of transportation = Rapid Urban Flexible (See illustration) The RUF System is a "Dual Mode" Electric/Hybrid vehicle system. One can drive these hybrid vehicles by themselves or take them to a station where you get on a track and let the system drive for you allowing stress and hands free commutes for example. Yesterday, I paid $3.29 per gallon for Regular Unleaded fuel here in the LAX area (ARCO) which is at the least .14 cents per gallon cheaper than any other station in the vicinity. Before I lost my job, I'd always subscribed to the fact that buying Premium fuel enhanced the performance of my vehicle and thereby I needed to visit the filling station less often; I'm having to buy the cheap stuff until I get back to work which, God help me, should be soon. The fever pitch across the country about gasoline prices I find distracting in the big picture of life on Earth; what we're all going to need in the not-too-distant-future is more water! And nowhere else on this planet is this better demonstrated than guess where? That's right, The Middle East leads the world in the number of Desalination Plants (See photo) Personally, I have never understood why we don't have Desalination Plants all along our coasts in America and in my research on the subject I found that we have Biwater Advanced Environmental Water Technologies right here in Pasadena, CA. The infrastructure to move drinking and potable water is already in place. All we would have to do is to link the desalted water from near the ocean into our existing water supply delivery system; it is my view that this should be done immediately. According to an article generated by Biwater Technologies, this could be achieved economically by utilizing the less expensive Reverse Osmosis or Nano-Filtration techniques of today which use membranes to treat the salt water within the desalination plants; it is my position that construction of these plants should commence right away! For the first time in my working life I am without comprehensive medical benefits; not a comfy feeling for sure. I spent seven hours in the Emergency/Urgent Care area at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center yesterday so that I could have the condition of my slowly healing ankle region assessed by an MD; I'd seen my Chiropractor on 1 May, and he advised me to have it checked for ligament or tendon tearing which he could not do with precision. From time to time while sitting in the waiting area at Harbor, I felt I knew what it must be like to be in the Green Room of the Jerry Springer Show; weirdos man, weirdos! But hey, waada ya gonna do? The apparent class and cultural differences present in the waiting area were most profound: Young, some Preppy, medical professionals and clearly established senior Medical Staff mixed with every homeless street urchin in the area and every country south of the American border well represented at Harbor 24/7. I found it striking and trust me, I've been around plenty of "low" people in my life and do not look down my nose at anyone. Refreshingly, the staff proved to be excellent and for me, surgery is not going to be required, I am most happy to report. During my wait, a very attractive young Hispanic looking woman was looking for a seat; I had my X-Ray envelope and Sony Walkman sitting in the chair next to mine. The young gal and I made eye contact and we nearly simultaneously glanced at the chair with my stuff in it; I moved my stuff - she said thank you and sat down.

"Brenda" was obviously nervous and wanted to talk: She explained that she'd been sent there following a visit to her dentist earlier in the morning; it was 11:30 AM when I arrived at Harbor. She went on to say, that a wisdom tooth had been giving her problems and that she'd gone to have it extracted. The Dental Assistant went to numb her and while looking at her wisdom tooth region called the dentist into the room. "Brenda" had Thyroid Cancer in 2000 with surgery and radiation following surgery to remove her Thyroid glands in her throat area. "Benda" said that lately she was having trouble swallowing and that her entire cheek and jaw on her right side was in pain. Being a cancer survivor myself, I could empathize. I was fortunate to have impeccable and caring support in 2005/2006 when I went through it, this youngster was by herself in a clinic for crying-out-loud! Anyway, I wrote down my oncologists name and told her about the incredible "Wellness Community" I also told her she mustn't mess around with this. She hasn't had treatment or follow-up since her final radiation treatment years ago. Well, it was just one of several scenarios played out in front of my eyes yesterday- It made me wonder about our country and the health care industry specifically. Maybe the people who have been calling for a National System have been right? I don't know, but I do know I've worked just about all of my adult life and just had my medical benefits end April 1, 2007. And, "Brenda" needs an oncologist/endocrinologist, makes $8.00 per hour, has kids four and seven years of age, and is frightened. A shitty combination really.....Onward

I hope that Mr. Clary has the resolve to go the distance; research and data confirm his concern is concrete. Children are, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 24 times more likely to be killed in single mother households than they are in single father households, yet the Family Law Industry continues to award mothers primary custody 90% of the time. Seems the Industry remains more interested in Dad's income (Read- Child Support) than they are in the mythical "best interest of the child"....
And what about this chick, Linda Nowak, in this post's photo? On 5 February, 2007 this mother/idiot was arrested in Orlando, Florida, and subsequently charged with the attempted "kidnapping" of U.S. Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman. If Nowak had been a Dad, she'd be incarcerated pending trial on attempted murder charges. Nowak was released on bail, pleaded "not guilty" to the charges and requested a jury trial. Nowak's assignment to the space agency as an astronaut was terminated by NASA effective March 8, 2007 yet she is working full time at NASA's Corpus Christi, Texas facility! If there are any Virgina Tech alum employed down there, why aren't they demanding she be removed and or detained? Mark my words; this chick/mom/idiot is a time bomb!

Wondering how many divorced Dads are dealing with personal nightmares today; thinking of you all. Michael Jordan, Sir Paul McCartney, Rudy Giuliani and all the other high profile dudes, wish you'd go public with your experiences, perspectives, and opinions on the Family Law Industry pit.

The guy pictured shooting over the Laker's Lucius Allen during the 74-75 season was my man, "Pistol" Pete Maravich (DoB: 6/22/47 DoD: 1/5/88) He remains the all-time NCAA scoring leader despite the fact that Freshman were ineligible to play varsity ball and there was no three point shot during his college career; good thing for all the UCLA haters too as it would have meant at least another two titles for Coach Wooden had Freshman been eligible. A "bad white boy" Pete was, maybe the baddest though Rick Barry could possibly argue. During a time frame when black players justifiably dominated this style of play, in my opinion Pete was one of the few white guys who could hang with the style in the 70's when "Showtime" type basketball was beginning to gain mainstream popularity. Not to mention, he was a big 6'5". The Anglo European players of today, or Americans for that matter, with all due respect couldn't hold the proverbial candle to guys like Pete, Jerry West, or Rick Barry. Simply put; the white players who enjoyed the Showtime style were better then in my opinion.....Ankle more and more colorful....Where are the comments on my bolgsterette?

To date, I've failed to mention what in my opinion is the finest non-human companion known to mankind; the Irish Terrier a fine example of which is pictured here. My dear Irish Terrier, Terry would have been fourteen years old now; a rare blood based tumor on his liver took him down far too young. The diva loved him, and as she used to call him, he was the true "Irish Rogue"; he loved his beer, women, and music - really! While this picture is not of Terry, it is very close to what he looked like, except Terry's tail was a wee bit shorter than the fine pooch in this example.

My ankle is getting nice and purplish, a veritable rainbow of color it is with increased mobility returning a bit at a time.

A piece in the news today says that Larry Birkhead is now free to move about the country with he and Anna Nicole's baby. Typically, I do not ingest tabloid fodder but hey, he's a single Dad! Do you think if Mr. Birkhead had passed away, Ms. Smith would have had to submit to a DNA test to determine who the father was? Or that any of the recurring hoopla would have been initiated simply because a dad passed away? Understanding that Anna Nicole was a celeb and Mr. Birkhead was/isn't; the disparity between fathers and mothers in these scenarios continues to fly under the radar of general consciousness; it's bullshit actually. Dads should count too!

I knew I was starting to "get up there" when last September a young guy I was working with didn't know who the gal in this picture was; Yikes!

Today, I'm hoping to get positive word on a job that I interviewed for last week; the interview was very positive as I may have alluded to previously and I can step right in and contribute which is a good feeling. The hiring manager is a recent transplant (She arrived 9/06) to So Cal from Kansas and we had some things in common. So, if she is as genuine as she appeared and sounded at the interview, in respect to wanting me there, I'm in; we shall see. Yesterday was spent trying to get my Achilles healed up ASAP. Iced it nearly all day then went to a friend's jacuzzi; this morning it does feel a bit better and more flexible. I haven't had a "real" vacation (I know, many of you out there haven't) since the mid 90's and if it weren't for the nightmare that is my ex-wife number 2, I'd be really enjoying this time off and scrutinizing my job search for the proverbial Holy Grail of employment; if such a thing exists for a fifty year old without a degree and who's line of work for most of his life has been super highly specialized aircraft work. Oh well, not to whine, things definitely could be worse.

Well my 50th Birthday party was a huge success and special and heartfelt thanks to my Mom, brother, and sister-in-law for hosting an exceptional event; many old friends of mine were there, several I've known since kindergarten and hadn't seen in years. We played basketball for a time in the mid morning on Saturday as my Mom and brother rented a gym at a local park. Unfortunately for me, I ruptured my Achilles Tendon; talk about ouch! Luckily I was mobil enough to enjoy the party. I suppose it is to be taken as yet another indicator of age progression, not to mention zero stretching of ligaments and tendons prior to getting on the court. (Read - stupid!) Anyway, it is swollen and sore but thankfully not as bad as I expected it to be by now.

Twenty-one year old Australian (If you ask me, he looks more like fourteen), Casey Stoner on a Ducati won the Turkish Moto GP race in rare fashion as he was something like five seconds ahead at the finish; monstrous at this level. Usually these guys are right on top of each other, and in fact, the rest of the competition better get it figured out quick as Ducatis were 1st & 3rd. My guy, Honda rider and American Nicky Hayden continues to struggle three races into the season; he finished seventh getting nipped for sixth on the final turn for the checkered flag by fellow American John Hopkins on a Suzuki. For today, it's going to be ice on the ankle region, then tomorrow I'll start the cold/heat regimen....Peace

Well, up early to head to San Pedro to assist with final preparations for my 50th Birthday Bash! In Moto GP, the Ducati's had been one - two in Friday's day one practice sessions. But in qualifying this morning, "The Doctor" #46 - Valentino Rossi on the Yamaha showed once more why he is the best in the world, snatching the Pole Position for tomorrow's Moto GP Gran Prix of Istanbul. His American teammate, Collin Edwards is second on the starting grid.....4/22/2007 - 2:00 PM Pacific - Speed Channel.....I love this Sport!

From the proverbial for-what-it's-worth department anyone out there who is a motor racing fan but has yet to discover Moto GP you have GOT to check these guy's out; it makes TV viewing of any other form of motor sport like watching paint dry! These monster machines weigh just 350 lbs yet crank out 240 horsepower! The races are broadcast on The Speed Channel and they are a must for anyone who loves motor sport; eat your heart out NASCAR, this is real racing. These guys simply smoke! Rarely, if ever, mentioned in the American media the Moto GP Series features four Americans; defending World Champion, Nicky Hayden (pictured) is from Kentucky and was one of People Magazine's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors for 2006. The seven-time world champion, Italian Valentino Rossi (Leading in the current season points standings as of this post), is earning in excess of $31 million dollars this year! You heard me, THIRTY ONE MILLION; rock star lifestyle personified!

I've about had it with the wind here in the LAX area; five days straight the crap has been blowing. I lived on the high desert (Lancaster, CA.) for seventeen years and last night the news broadcast said that the wind was currently stronger here in the South Bay than it is on the high desert; trust me, that sucks!

The picture above captured the early Skyhook: The only shot in basketball history that was, and remains, unblockable. Houston won this game by 2 points snapping UCLA's win streak at 47. Later this same year, 1968, in the NCAA Semi's the teams met again: UCLA 101 Houston 69....

My twenty-one year old has been "tanning" in a tanning bed/salon for quite sometime now despite the fact that her dad (Me) has had Melanoma twice. A few weeks ago, I forwarded this particular kid of mine a very recent statistical article that was published all over the WWW about how profoundly "tanning" increases the chance of contracting that horrific disease without any family history! Spoke to her today, she was walking into the salon to "tan" I'm thinking I'll have to find out who operates the joint and threaten them with a lawsuit; I just don't know.

As stated, yesterday was my birthday. In trying to go forward, my birth date may now always be associated with the Virginia Tech nightmare; I hope not. Heartfelt sympathy to those whose families will be forever tragically impacted by that horrific scene; the loss I simply cannot imagine....On a lighter note, April 16th is also Kareem Abdul Jabbar's birthday; the greatest basketball player of all time. If you debate that, have a look at the photo and try to imagine MJ blocking this shot; never happen! But rest assured some "Air" would have been sent into the fifth row...

Today, Glenn Sacks' (http://www.glennsacks.com/) email bulletin tells of two new articles he has contributed that are huge for people to read. One is in The Austin American-Statesman: "Texas bill to create domestic violence offender registry will harm innocent men." By Mike McCormick and Glenn Sacks - Austin American-Statesman, 4/11/07 - The other is in response to a front page Dad bashing piece in The Chicago Sun-Times 4/14/07 entitled: "The 12 Worst Dads in Illinois." Glenn did commend the fact that the Sun-Times had the balls to publish criticism of the piece which many publications will not do.

Something else Glenn Sacks pointed out, and that I hadn't thought about for some time, think about this: What if former astronaut Lisa Nowak had been a man? Remember her? She's the knucklehead who drove 9 hours to confront "the other woman" in the parking lot of a Florida airport because, despite the fact she's married with three children of her own, she suspected the other gal of nursing off of certain pieces of her secret boyfriend's anatomy that she believed were reserved for her alone! Of course being that she is a woman, she has been "reassigned" and IS WORKING FULL TIME as an instructor at Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, TX. This is hogwash! If I'd done that I'd be locked up, no question. And if I happened to be an African-American Dad in that parking garage that night, with a sledge hammer and a locking knife with a 6" blade, I probably would have been shot and killed! Well, today I'm fifty years old. I feel pretty good for fifty. Especially when one considers I've survived Melanoma (twice) and Chemotherapy once; I was lucky!
I just heard a report by Elaine Kory, a Senior NPR reporter based in San Francisco that pissed me off; "California to Cut Welfare Safety Net for Parents" When is the public going to wake up and realize what is going on in this country in regard to Welfare "Reform", Gay Marriage (which I couldn't care less about) and Child Support? I mean, before they'd even broadcast the meat and potatoes of this piece I knew that the article was going to be about the struggle of poor single Moms and, of course, I was correct! See, people who know recognize that the states, California in this example, despite their statements to the contrary have a vested financial interest in creating as many single mother households as possible. Understand, the first thing the Family Law Industry does in the majority of American divorce cases involving children is remove the fathers from their children's lives. In the U.S., Mom's are awarded primary Custody in over 90% of divorce cases involving kids. In this way, Child Support commences and the counties or Collection Enforcement regimes get a percentage of dad's income perpetuating their livelihood and industry.

California alone receives well over $40 million dollars per year from The Federal Government for it's child support collection efforts. Those Federal Funds finance payroll, employee benefits, and paid vacation time for the employees of the Child Support Collection Industry. Those funds do not make their way to the lives of children of divorce or impoverished kids, they simply pay people, many of them Government officials, to police child support collection. And so you know, according to the brilliant book, Father and Child Reunion, Farrell - Putnam the only definitive study ever done on child support collection indicated that Dad's pay between 80 and 93% of their court ordered support. But when these figures became apparent Wayne Stanton, then head of the Family Support Administration in Washington, D.C., had the study cancelled. In fact, it took a formal submission to the Freedom of Information Act to retrieve the data from Stanton's agency.
